Living Wake

Love is the most powerful healing tool you have .

It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth – and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up – that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it was the only one we had.  Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

To journey with an illness and to see that you are in your end days; this is both a deep ache and a chance for deep wisdom. When life shrinks to the present, many people find that they contemplate the processes around dying, and question the status quo.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to bring all your loved ones together, and to hear their words and stories, their reminiscences and memories? To celebrate together and to hold fast to precious times…perhaps to introduce your family and friends to each other, so they can forge relationships after you’ve gone…

This is the idea behind a living wake.

I can help you bring to life your image of the perfect send-off. If you’re still feeling quite well, you could plan a big party and make it a really big occasion. Or perhaps you just want an intimate and special gathering for your very nearest and dearest. Whatever your capacity, your vision and your wishes, I would be so honoured to assist you in the process.

Many people have mixed feelings about committing to such an unusual event; let me guide you, talk with you, and assist you to bring your desire to fruition.

Living Wakes can be as creative and unique as you like – it’s all about coming up with the right idea for you. It can give you a chance to do things you wouldn’t normally get to do at a wake, for example:

  • Thank people who have played a part in your life

  • Express last wishes, private secrets or confessions that you don’t want to keep or carry forward

  • Hear final messages people may have for you

  • Spend time surrounded by the people who love you

  • Enjoy your all-time favourite music, food, drinks and company – all at once!

  • Put together a time capsule for your family to keep for future generations (poems, prayers, gifts)

  • Give your unique personal belongings to specific people
